The inaugural earedDC Las Vegas is just around the corner, and with the rescheduled date this year, it will take place in mid-October for the first time. It’s unlike anything else to be under the Electric Sky, and whether you’re new to the scene or not, you may rest confident in the knowledge that the event will be a warm, inclusive environment that will make you feel at ease regardless of who you are. Here are ten things to consider before attending your first EDC Las Vegas from a veteran raver.
- WEAR COMFY SHOES
EDC is a marathon, not a sprint. Wearing comfortable shoes will allow you to see more of the event and dance all night beneath the Electric Sky without having to worry about blisters or tired feet. If you’re wearing new shoes to an event, try breaking them in for a few weeks before hand. Choose comfy shoes that are also fashionable. Platforms or sneakers are excellent for walking and standing throughout the day. Don’t be scared to take a rest and sit for a while, but keep in mind that if your feet are hurting at the Speedway, you’ll be too far away from any store to get new shoes.
- DON’T LOSE YOUR WRISTBAND
Treat your wristband like gold. Don’t put it on too soon, and make sure you have it with you when you come to Las Vegas for EDC week. It’s thrilling to receive your ticket in the mail, but putting it on too soon may result in you breaking it before the festival even begins.
- BUDGET FOR A RIDE BACK TO VEGAS
Do you plan to stay on or near the Strip? Many veterans know the agony of waiting for a shuttle at the end of the night (or morning) to get back to their hotel. Instead of taking the shuttle, rent a taxi or Uber/Lyft back to your hotel. The costs vary, but if you carpool with a few of your buddies, the price will go down. Although it’s possible to avoid the Las Vegas Strip entirely, doing so may save time. For example, downtown Las Vegas, where the shuttle lines are considerably shorter, is a good alternative.
- DRESS COMFORTABLY
Once again, EDC is a long-term event. You’ll be outdoors for hours on end, far from your hotel. Consider how you can stay cool and fashionable while staying comfy when creating your EDC outfits. There’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable for the whole night at a music festival,
so shop ahead for clothes that are nice and comfy, and double-check the temperature before you finalize your appearance to ensure you’re not too cold or too hot. If you need some Outfit Inspiration, Checkout the Lomo App or Youtube!
- PLAN YOUR MEET UP SPOT IN ADVANCE
The Speedway’s cell service is already bad, but when you add thousands of people all attempting to stay in touch with their pals or upload to Instagram, the connection might be even more tenuous. Make sure you don’t need your phone when you go to the event by preparing ahead of time. Send any vital information and make any essential calls before leaving for the event, and arrange meetups ahead of time by selecting a time and location within the park.
- STAY HEALTHY AND HYDRATED
Dancing all night in the desert will deplete your energy reserves. At the festival, make sure to drink a lot of water and eat a healthy meal. Stay hydrated while you’re at the festival and while you recuperate in your hotel the next day by eating a nutritious dinner and drinking lots of water. TIt’s essential to take care of yourself while on vacation, and it’ll make a huge difference between having a good time the whole festival and becoming burnt out and weary at the end—or worse, getting sick!
- ONLY BRING THE CARDS YOU REALLY NEED
Only bring the ones you truly need to the festival if you have multiple bank cards or credit cards. If you lose your bag or wallet and have everything in it, this can be a catastrophe because you’ll have to go the rest of the weekend depending on Venmo payments to friends whenever you want to buy anything. Instead of taking your entire wallet, take one form of payment and your identification with you while leaving the rest in the hotel safe.
- PACK A FESTIVAL BAG
There are plenty of blogs full of suggestions for what to bring when you go to EDC in Las Vegas, but be sure to bring a festival bottle or a hydration pack with you throughout the event so that you’re never caught off guard. We recommend bringing a face mask, earplugs, unwrapped chapstick, and gum, as well as some extra toilet paper just in case. It’s also a good idea to bring sunglasses with you on your return trip to the hotel once the sun rises.
- MAKE THE SCHEDULE YOUR LOCK SCREEN
Make it your lock screen on your phone to have access to the entire weekend’s program all weekend long. We recommend focusing on sets you don’t want to miss, but Encourage exploring new areas. You may still enjoy the thrill of discovery and musical campsites at EDC
Las Vegas. With so much to explore, it’s easy to get distracted by all that is going on during the Electric Daisy Carnival weekend – and you don’t want to miss any of it! Make sure to discover sets from artists you wouldn’t normally listen to. You may just fall in love with some new music!
- MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS FULLY CHARGED BEFORE LEAVING
With all of this information on your phone, it may be wise to make sure you have a full charge before leaving for Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas so that you can use your cellular data throughout the Electric Daisy Carnival weekend. The last thing you want is for your phone to die and lose all of the important information that’s on it!
